SAFETY RELAYS

Whenever a relay is required and must be used in SIF, must comply with IEC 61508 and relevant industry standards (i.e. IEC 61511).
Typical cases:

- Controller cannot meet power requirements (V or A)
- Multiple contacts are required
- The controller safety function must be reversed.

SIL certified relays are used in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries and are also essential in many other industries (railway, automotive, energy distribution) and whenever a relay failure could cause a serious accident.
